I know this is supposed to be for movies, but I’ve got too much on my menu list to add a new category. Gehe.
But I just had to review this drama.
I had to. Because
Park Hyung Sik. That’s why.
It’s a 16 episode drama with romance, humour, action, suspense.
And. I really don’t know how to rate it.
The romance is the cheesiest of cheesiness. But it was so adorable. What I truly, truly, love about the script is the fact that both the male and female lead do not conform to character archetypes. The main characters are both cute and strong at the same time. Qualities that usually don’t go together unless what you want is an akward/adorable moment. I mean you get that a lot when a strong, masculine character suddenly does something warm and cute. And it makes you feel like it’s out of character hence making the scene a little more special? In the sense, that someone goes out of their way to show their care.
That’s always been the case for male leads in dramas.
But not in this one. (Okay the second lead has that archetype but not the main lead). It’s so amusing to have a guy so naturally adorable and strong at the same. One that isn’t ashamed of his not masculine like qualities.
That’s what I really loved about this drama.
There was also a mystery running through the entire drama whereby girls were getting kidnapped at the neighbourhood the female lead was living in which was okay. Like I was more interested in the romance rather than the suspense aspect. The mystery aspect was slow though. It only became exciting in the last three episodes and I don’t really have anything against it because I really liked seeing the romance line more. But the last three episodes were on fire. I did not see them coming.
I’ll give 3/5 for suspense. 5/5 for romance. AND 5/5 FOR COMEDY.
I’m telling you the comedy in this drama is hilarious. At some point it’s like wtf?!?!?! It’s so over the top and ridiculous that it’s super funny. Very good.
